Tip 1: Use a Sticky Mat
We always start by checking our mat! If it’s not sticky, cuts won’t be clean. Swap to a new green mat, and you’re good to go. Can’t get a new one? Wash it gently with dish soap and let it dry. Green mats* work best for us—blue is okay, purple only for thick stuff!
Tip 2: Check your blade
We keep our blades clean by poking them into a ball of aluminum foil about 50 times. It removes little bits stuck to the blade but doesn’t sharpen it. Works great for Fine-Point and Deep-Point Blades! If your blade is cutting too much, check that you’re using the right one. For Cricut Explore or Maker, use the Premium Fine-Point blades*.
Tip 3: Use quality cardstock
Bad paper = bad cuts! If you’re still getting rough cuts, switch to a better paper. We like Recollections* and Astrodesigns* cardstock.
Tip 4: Check your settings
Super tiny or detailed designs can be tricky! Switch your setting to Intricate Cuts for cardstock. If it’s still not perfect, trim with scissors afterward. Don’t stress -just test and tweak until it works! If your cuts aren’t turning out right, try using the Mirror option in Cricut Design Space. It can help make cleaner cuts for some designs!
